Classes (Staff Information)
Staff RPers This page outlines what subject Professors should do when running their classes. They are mainly for the reference of staff members, but are available for all to see. Information about classes for students can be viewed here. Classroom rules can be found here. All staff members have access to the Staff Discussion board. This board is used for planning and important staff announcements. Staff RPers should check this board regularly. Classes are an important part of role-playing at Hogwarts, and the role of Professor is taken very seriously. If at any time you feel like you are struggling to keep up, please contact the Staff RPers organiser so alternative arrangements can be made. On this page... (hide) Forum accountIf you already have a student account you will be required to create a separate account for your Professor. Class frequency and durationClasses are scheduled on the calendar. You should do your best to start your class on the set date. If you have any troubles, please contact the Staff RPers organiser. If your class isn't started on time (within 2 days of the scheduled start date) and you haven't previously contacted the [[Staff RPers organiser a replacement Professor will take your place. Classes should run for at least a week, and aim to be finished within two to three weeks. Starting classesClass threads have already been started and linked to the calendar. You may also wish to sticky the current class so it remains at the top of the board. Don't forget to unsticky it when you start the next lesson. Class threadsThe first class of the year is run in two separate threads. One is for first years only and the other is for all other students. This gives new students a chance to get a feel for how classes are run before joining the rest of the school. All other classes are run in a single thread. Ending classesAt the end of a lesson please lock the thread. Activity requirementsThe following schedule must be followed in order to retain your staff position:
AttendanceAttendance is recorded automatically. To ensure attendance is recorded for your lesson, it must be linked to the calendar the weekend before it begins. Every Sunday lessons for the upcoming week are added to the attendance updater. If your lesson is not linked to the calendar on time, please notify Admin. Skills and abilitiesPlease check the Skills and Abilities? list to see which students are skilled in your subject and which students struggle in your subject. If there is a student doing extremely well when they aren't skilled in the subject, send them a PM to explain the matter. House pointsAs you award/deduct house points, please use the house points updater to adjust the House Points tally. You will be sent a username and password from Admin at the start of the school year. If you have forgotten your password, please contact Admin to have it resent. Do not share your password with other members. When using the house points updater enter the amount to change the house points by (negative numbers are allowed). The new value will then be recalculated. All house points changes are logged and moderated. Other role-playingYou are allowed to role-play your Professor out of class as well (for example in the staff room, patrolling the corridors etc). Staff are also allowed (and required) to have a student account as well. Categories: |
