Quidditch Referees
Quidditch referees are responsible for adjudicating a Quidditch match. They are brave witches and wizards selected by the Department of Magical Games and Sports and hired by Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Each referee must be an excellent flier, capable of watching fourteen players at once, take extreme flying texts and written examinations and prove that they will not jinx or curse offensive players even while under pressure. He kept up with Quidditch until he graduated and during his seventh year, he was scouted by one of the many professional teams and offered a contract with them. Just when his professional career was starting to take off, he took a bludger to his right shoulder while passing the quaffle. The hit permanently damaged his shoulder, ending his career as a professional Quidditch player. He took up refereeing for professional matches but found his heart wasn't in it and quit after a few months. Seven years later, he's ready to try again and took up a post at Hogwarts. Referee Richard Crowley? suffered a career-ending injury from a bludger while he was playing beater for the Irish national team and the Kenmare Kestrals. He brings a headstrong attitude to the pitch as a referee and he hopes that none of his young charges will ever experience what happened to him. Referee Logan Kale? started as a young referee for the United Quidditch League and quickly rose to fame. He's been hooked on Quidditch ever since he saw his first game. Referee Jude Maine? stands at 6'3'' with a muscular build that comes from years of playing Quidditch and staying in shape. He wants to be the fastest and strongest chaser on any team he plays for and wants to be able to throw the quaffle all the way across the pitch. His goal is to be picked up by a professional team. Referee Ronald Wyatt? could never play on a Quidditch team due to health reasons, but he took up the referee's whistle instead. He's never missed a World Cup match. He met and married Charlie, a female referee, and they had two daughters before Charlie passed away. Ronald brings his daughters wherever he goes and has refereed over five hundred games. His goal is to referee six hundred before he retires. FemalesReferee Shannon Clapp? was signed on to play for the Vratsa Vultures almost immediately after she graduated Hogwarts. She played professionally for 15 years until she was deemed too old to play at her best, especially as a seeker. She applied for refereeing at Hogwarts and other U.K. functions and was accepted immediately. Referee Elizabeth Gannett? graduated from Master Lockwood's Flying Academy soon after she graduated from Hogwarts. She hopes to play for a professional team or work in the Ministry in the Quidditch League Headquarters. Referee Matilda Hoffman? didn't start playing Quidditch until her fourth year, but she's loved it ever since her first year. After she graduated from Hogwarts, she went back to London to find a job but didn't find anything that suited her, so she applied and was accepted at Hogwarts as a referee. |
