Malashima Family
The Malashima Family is one of the oldest wizarding families in the known world. They can trace their ancestory back to the Roman Empire, where the name 'Malashima' first appears in historical documents. Over the years they have gained a large amount of respect among the wizarding community for their noble works. The Malashimas have worked against the Dark Arts for many years and The Family has striven to make it known that they do not support any works of evil whatsoever. It is rumored that the Malashimas keep a special collection of spells known only to members of the Family, but this has not been proven. On this page... (hide) TraditionsMarriageThe Family focuses solely around the traditions they have kept for the past hundred years. The name "Malashima" has been preserved for generation after generation because anyone marrying into the Family must take the name "Malashima", wehther they are male or female. The most recent example of this is the current Head of the Family, Leonard Malashima?. Originally, he was born Leonard Bianchi, but after proposing to Moiraine Malashima?, he agreed to forefit his last name and adopt the new one in order to gain entrance to the Malashima Family and seal the marriage. There is no recorded evidence of a Malashima getting a divorce or participating in an affair. Throughout history, the Malashimas have remained faithful to their spouses, regardless of any unhappiness in the marriage. There is also no evidence of any children born out of wedlock and if there were such children, they would have been dealth with so no problems would arise among succession Head of FamilyThe Head of the Malashima Family is a symbol for the Family's power. While each of the members use their political powers at their own disscretion, the Head of the Family makes the final decisions on larger issues. Each of the members is required to report back to the Head of the Family at the end of every month with a list of their activities. There's no point in trying to lie to the Head of the Family - he or she will always know. The position of Head of Family usually goes to the oldest member of the younger generation who shows the most promise or potential, but in the end, the Head of the Family gives it to a member of his or her choosing. Up until recently, the position has been held by a member with Malashima blood. See the "New Blood" scandal for more information. Up until about two decades ago, the Head of Family was recognized by the presence of a saphire pendant. The pendant was rumored to have powers that protected and guided the bearer, but during the New Blood scandal, the pendant was reported missing. Due to the more important events occuring at the time, the loss of the pendant was not considered a major problem. Leonard has continued to serve as Head of Family without it. There is more power that surronds the Head of Family, but it has not been revealed to the public yet. PoliticsUp until the monarchy was overthrown in Italy in 1945, the Malashimas were considered to be members of the aristocracy. They tactfully resigned their titles when the republic began, but they continued to serve as members of the political system. As a result, the public is very accostumed to seeing them there and they are generally well-liked. The Malashima children are raised to enter into a career in politics from birth. None of them are given a choice. If they initially refused, they are eventually convinced to see otherwise. The methods of persuasion are not yet known to the public. AlliancesThe Malashima family has been alligned with the Damascene family? since the northern and southern halves of Italy were united, the Malashimas representing the north and the Damascenes representing the south. The details of the relationship between the Families is still unknown at the moment. The Malashimas are willing to allign themselves with any Family willing to defend the public against the Dark Arts. FeudsThe Malashima family refuses to allign themselves with the Dorthonion Family? and the Stover Family?, among others. ScandalsThe New Blood ScandalBefore Leonard became the Head of Family Moiraine's father, Antonio Malashima, held the position. Antonio's plan was to pass the power down to Samuele Malashima?, his son and Moiraine's brother. However, Samuele was murdered at the age of 18, and Antonio decided to give the title to Moiraine when he deemed her ready. Several years later, Antonio and his wife Severina were assassinated, and Moiraine was left with the title. Due to an intense amount of grief at the loss of her parents and her beloved brother, Moiraine chose to pass the power to her husband, Leonard. For the first time in the history of the Malashima Family, an outsider holds the Head of Family title. Noteworthy Family MembersLeonard Malashima? is the current Head of the Malashima Family. The public views him as an intense, formidable man. He is well-respected in every circle. The general public is not aware of his ulterior motives. Moiraine Malashima? is the wife of Leonard Malashima. She is currently involved in a secret affair with Charles Parker. She isn't as involved in politics as she used to be, though she still keeps up with her responsibilites. She doesn't receive as much respect as Leonard does, but then again, she isn't the Head of Family either. Elayne Malashima? is the only daughter of Leonard and Moiraine. Even though she is still a student at Hogwarts, her parents have already begun to groom her for a life of politics. She has accepted her fate, like every other Malashima child has. Samuele Malashima? is Moiraine's dead brother and Elayne's uncle. He recently recrossed the threshold between life and death as a ghost. The living Malashimas are unaware of this development. Place of ResidenceThe Head of the Malashima Family has resided in an extravegant villa located in Pouzzoli, Italy, for a number of years. La Villa Malashima is currently home to Moiraine, Leonard, and Elayne. Samuele died on the grounds of the villa. There is a mausoleum located on the far side of the Eastern portion of the property, where all members of the Malashima Family are buried. |
