Charles Parker

The current Charles Parker - Charles XV - is a member of the prestigious Parker family. He is the son of Solomon Parker? and his wife Felicity, who died during childbirth. He is the non-identical twin of Maurice Parker?, who he is not on good terms with. Charles turned forty-three last Christmas Day, though he is a vampire and was sired at thirty years old; he still appears to be thirty to thirty-five. He is somewhat known for his romantic indiscretions and has had many female partners over the years, though he has never married and he is still very highly regarded as an intellectual and a pleasant man.

Vampire Life

Charles is not a conventional vampire; he has moral issues with frequent slaughter, and generally only kills one person a month for their blood - this is a great difference from most of his kind, who tend to feed twice weekly on average. He is a member of the Spinnwick House coven and was sired by its head, Demetrius, whom he respects but has never befriended and is quite intimidated by. Charles does not like to wear out his fangs, preferring to keep them stored inside his gums until he needs them. This is uncomfortable for him - it is somewhat painful for vampires to store their fangs for long periods of time as this was intended merely for infrequent exposure to mortal crowds - but as it is nobody but his coven know of his vampirism. He currently plans to disclose his condition to Moiraine Malashima at a time when it is appropriate.

Current Romantic Attachment

Charles is bonded to Moiraine, which means that around fifteen minutes after meeting her his vampire intuitions predicted that he could spend his life with her in happiness and formed a strong romantic attachment to her within another fifteen minutes. It's an instinct which he can neither control or switch off; vampires of years ago needed persuasion to do anything but satisfy their wish for blood and begin actually siring. As a result, he is madly in love with Moiraine and was ready to commit his entire life to her after only one evening together.

Moiraine is pregnant with Charles' child, but he is currently unaware of this.

Notable Romantic History

Before Helena Parker married her husband and Charles' twin, Maurice Parker?, her and Charles had a short but passionate affair, and he is unsure as to whether Helena's eldest daughter belongs to him or his twin brother; in truth, his twin is the father, but it is a great source of guilt for him. Maurice is unaware the affair ever occurred.

Charles has a daughter, Colette Rosenburg, by a married woman he had an extended affair with; he cannot easily recall her name today. He was unaware of his daughter's existance until last year.

Charles is still in love with Celia Rider, a blonde woman of Irish descent whom he bonded to twelve years ago - in the same year as he met Colette's mother, though it was later in the year - and who broke his heart not long after they became involved. Charles has recently discovered that when they parted Celia was pregnant with his child, Brianna McKenzie, who now attends Hogwarts and is a close friend of his nephew, Oscar Parker?.

At a party of a mutual friend named Barty, Charles met Athena del Sol and they had a brief, one-night affair that was never repeated. As Athena is Moiraine's best friend this is now a source of some discomfort for Charles though he is usually able to overcome it.

Relationships with Family Members

Charles is incredibly close to his nephew, Oscar Parker?, who is currently living with him after being excommunicated from the Parker stem family. He taught the boy everything he knows about psychology, manipulation and romance, and believes the boy to be a true prodigy in the subjects. As Oscar spent much of his childhood living with Charles, he considers himself to be his long-term guardian as Oscar's real father Maurice Parker? never really connected with him or cared for him - Charles has done both. They consider themselves to be best friends as well as nephew and uncle, and secretly they regard each other as a father and a son respectively, though they have never spoken about this and are both unaware of the other's thoughts.

Though Charles and his twin brother Maurice Parker? were close when they were young boys, their relationship soon changed when they began attending Hogwarts and Maurice refused to treat his brother the same as he always had, playing childish games with their imaginations. Charles soon learned to stop asking his twin to play with him, but the bullying continued until their third year when Charles reinvented himself by studying the psychology he still relies so heavily on today, and neither of the men have ever attempted to repair their relationship; Charles finds it difficult to forget how terrible his brother made him feel during their first few years at school, and how it was his brother that motivated him to change as he had never wanted to do.

Other Relationships

Charles' best friends and closest companions, Robert Carter and Peter Heathcliff-Jones, are both sire-brothers of his from Spinnwick House coven; both are more violent than he is, but none of them consider this to matter.

One of Maurice's best friends at Hogwarts, Charlie Richardson, is an acquantaince Charles accidentally remade when on a visit to Hell's Garden in Hogsmeade. The two cannot put their differences behind them and abhor each other equally; they are both intent on duelling the other at some point in the near future.

Residences and Property

Charles' main place residence is Heathenbrook Manor?, a large and beautiful manor house in Oxfordshire. He also owns a townhouse - Wetherwick House? - in Hogsmeade, a flat in New York City, cottages in Wales and Ireland, a Swiss chateau in Adelboden and villas in the South of France and Italy.
